How to care for your beautiful pampas grass

Beinga 90's girl, I was brought up with the whispers of the adults gossiping about the neighbour who had pampas grass in their front garden. It wasn't unitl I was in my teens I realised why.

But in recent years pampas grass has become one of the faster growing trends for the home, salons, and even weddings, and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast.

I totally get the attraction of how its come back on trend, but for me I love my colours, and like to have a statement piece in the room. Thats exactly how I came up with my beautiful vibrant pampas grass cloud, which hangs on my bedroom wall, its the first thing I see when I wake up, and the last thing at night.

Pampas grass is not only beautiful, and on trend, but its also very environmentally friendly, it last for many years, aslong as its looked after properly, and it can be repurposed very easily.

Taking care of your pampas grass

    GIVE IT A SHAKE

    • When your arrangement first arrives it will have being a little squashed from the packaging, I try my hardest to reduce as much as this as possible. But before you go any further, remove it from the packagin carefully, give it a good shake, (outside ideally). This is to make it as fluffy as possible

    HAIRSPRAY (yes hairspray)

    • I will have already sprayed your arrangement for you before packaging, to help with as much loss as possible. I reccomend about every 6 months or so, give your pampas grass a light spray with hairspray, ensuring to keep your distance from the pampas grass, (we don't want any hard clumps). It just helps to reduce the loss.

Where to hang or place your pampas grass.

    • There is two fundamental rules about pampas grass, keep it away from directly sunlight especially the coloured arrangements, as this can bleach them, and lose colour.
    • Also keep them away from moisture, as this can make the go moldy, which we don't want that.
    • also think about heat, don't place them directly over radiators or anywhere with direct heat, so if you are in a salon think about this with hairdryers, etc...
    • think about high traffic areas, don't place it somewhere people or animals are going to continuiously brush past it, as this will cause shedding.

You do not need to water the pampas grass, as it is a dried product.

Go and enjoy your beautiful arrangement, and remeber to always be bold and wild and stand out from the crowd.20220615_140349

    VARIETY IN COLOUR AND SIZING

Did you know their is a bigger varitey of colours and sizes to choose from when it comes to artificial flowers. You may have to research wheres the best place to purchase your choosen flowers from, but many stockists have a variety of larger and smaller flowers to choose from, you can even purchase giant flowers, for display purposes.

    LIFE EXPECTANCY

One main benefit from artificial flowers, is they last a lot longer than fresh flowers, and aslong as they have being protected with sprays the colours will last longer. But to preserve them even longer, keeping them away from direct sunlight will help massively.

    REPURPOSE AND RECYCLE

You can repurpose artificial flowers, for instance if you chose artificial flowers for your wedding bouquets, you could ask for them to be made into an arrangement, wall art, or door wreath, so you can benefit from your special day for many moons to come.

    CLEANING IS SO EASY

They are easy to clean aslong as you keep upto it, you can steam your flowers, which will help them keep there shape aswell as cleaning them. (I will go more into the cleaning process in another blog)

    SEASONAL WHAT's THAT.....

There is no need to wait for the right season to enjoy your favorite flowers. Who loves tulips ( one of my favorite flowers ) Tulips as we all know appear out of nowhere and dissappear just as fast. I just dont have enough time to enjoy my favorite flower.

    EXTREMELY REALISTIC

Carrying on with tulips, DID YOU KNOW, you can purchase real touch flowers? not all types have this option, but it is usually tulips and roses, some are very rubbery but a high quality real touch tulip can look extremely realistic. Infact I recently made a mother's day arrangement and customers thought the arrangement was real. Due to the tulips looking so realistic.

NOT A FAN OF WAITING FOR YOUR BOUQUET TO COME INTO BLOOM ....

One thing I am not a fan of is when half of a bouquet comes into bloom before the rest of the flowers. With artificial they arrive at your door in full bloom, and never change, unless you have purchased a bouquet to purposely have a few heads partially open, such as rose buds, as most rose bouquets give a variety of open and closed buds.

    Allergy sufferer?

Does someone in your family suffer from allergies ? I know for one my hubby suffers quite badly, especially with liles. With artificial flowers their is know worrying one of the family is going to suffer from your beautiful flowers, ending in you having to dispose of them to soon.

    Cost

Do you purchase weekly flowers for your home, are you like me and cannot resist a bunch of daffodils to brighten your home after the darks winter nights. Artifical flowers can be as inexpensive as you want it to be, and will save you a small fortune in the long run if you do like to treat yourself weekly.

    Pet friendly

Do you have animals that loves to nibble on things they shouldn't some varieties of plants and  flowers can be deadly to certain pets, I am extremely conscious of this, as we have a rabbit, that loves to nibble on all things naughty, and some plants imperticual are deadly to him. I love my rabbit like a child, he is actually more like a dog than anything else, so for me I would risk his health because I wanted to have a vase of beautiful fresh flowers.
